Adriana
My name is Adriana Stam and I live for over twenty years in Marken. I am very interested in the culture, history and tradition of this region. My fondness of narrating and a profession that is communication related, provide for a visit to Marken that can be a real experience. The experience of living in a village from the middle ages has given me a unique perspective on our way of life and traditions.
Marken has attracted a lot of media coverage because of its beauty and uniqueness.
I have taken part in interviews and documentaries explaining the Marken tradition. I am also an experienced lecturer and I am involved in organizing traditional clothing displays.
Marken has also attracted royal attention with a visit from Queen Beatrix on ‘Queens Day’ 30th April 1997. I was lucky enough to be invited to commentate on the live event on national television (NOB). I would like to give my deep appreciation to Joop van Zijl and Rudolf Spoor for a truly inspiring experience.
Guiding Dutch groups as well as groups from foreign countries is great to do. I usually do not know what kind of people I will have in front of me. So every time it is a challenge to make my story interesting for everyone.
